An online magazine about the changes that stay with us, not just the news that flies by
Wave is a small newsroom producing five sections: environment, economy, health, culture, and technology. Every week we publish stories we have reported ourselves and thought hard about. Countless headlines pour out each day, and we try to pick the stories that will still matter a month, or a year, from now.
We look for the human stories behind the numbers and statistics, and explain difficult ideas in plain language. Telling you what you can do after reading is the Wave way.
Five Sections
Environment
Climate and energy, and how cities and nature can live together
Economy
From household budgets to markets and policy
Health
The everyday science of caring for body and mind
Culture
Music, art, books, and how to enjoy them together
Technology
The technology changing our days, and the questions beyond it
The People Behind Wave
Wave Desk
Editorial
We select and polish stories for all five sections. We favor stories that last over fast breaking news, and stories read to the end over sheer volume.
Sarah Kim
Reporter · Environment and Health
Writes about living healthier and wasting less in the city. On weekends she runs in the neighborhood park and tends her garden plot.
Daniel Lee
Reporter · Economy and Technology
Tells the stories of the people whose choices lie behind the numbers and machines. He joined Wave after stints at a brokerage and a startup.
Tips and Submissions
If you have a good story, send it to our desk. A reporter verifies every tip before it becomes a story, and our editors read each submission and edit it to fit the section before publishing.
