Sleeping regularly matters more than sleeping long
Everyone knows we are supposed to sleep eight hours a night. Yet few people actually get that much, and many say they still wake up unrefreshed after a long sleep. Sleep researchers say there are things to take care of before the number of hours.
1. Wake Up at the Same Time
The strongest signal for setting your body clock is the time you get up in the morning. If you wake at about the same time on weekends as on weekdays, your bedtime naturally becomes consistent.
2. Get Morning Sunlight
Getting sunlight within an hour of waking sharpens your day-night rhythm. Even on cloudy days, outdoor light is far brighter than indoor lighting.
Sleep doesn’t begin at night. It begins in the morning.

3–5. The Other Habits
- Have caffeine only before 2 p.m.
- Stay away from screens for an hour before bed
- Keep the bedroom cool and dark
Sleeping well is not an inborn talent but a skill you can build. Starting tonight, pick just one of the five and give it a try.
